Richeson Group to open its 52nd Dairy Queen

Mineral Wells Index

— SANTO – The Richeson Group will celebrate the opening of its 52nd Dairy Queen store at 9:30 a.m. Thursday on the southeast corner of U.S. Highway 281 South and Interstate 20.

Doris Richeson, owner of Richeson Group, owns and operates 51 Dairy Queen storefronts across Texas. She purchased her first location in 1969 and has been in continuous operation ever since.

Attending with Richeson will be Pat Dial, director of operations, Dallas Pooser and a partner in the company, Joe Tillman, who is third generation with Richeson Group. Invited guests are Palo Pinto County Judge David Nicklas, Commissioner Jeff Fryer, Economic Development Corp. Director Steve Butcher, members of the Mineral Wells and Possum Kingdom chambers of commerce, Santo ISD officials and anyone interested in the event.

“With the restaurant weeks away from its actual opening potential employees are already being encouraged to apply” said Image Relations Coordinator Lisa McCool. “Candidates can log on to www.richesondq.com and complete an application, it’s that simple.  If you are hired you would train in one of our other locations and be the first employees for the Santo location.”

Doris Richeson sits on the Texas Dairy Queen Operators’ Council, and it is not her first term. In 1977, she became the first woman to serve on the council. In the 1980s, her leadership marshaled enough strength to keep marketing dollars in Texas for a Texas advertising campaign and the right to keep the TDQ food system, which is unlike that of the American Dairy Queen system.

Richeson Dairy Queens annually use almost one million pounds of potatoes, half a million pounds of American Beef and a quarter of a million pounds of dessert mix.
