Rams, Panthers split sub-varsity wins

MIDLOTHIAN — The Mineral Wells Rams freshmen A and B teams took a win and suffered a loss, respectively, on Thursday in Midlothian.
The Rams JV took a 33-0 loss to the Panthers in a non-district game.
The following is a game-by-game look at the results:
Freshman
Midlothian B 16 - Mineral Wells B 14
The Rams freshman B team came up three points short of a win in a 16-14 a thriller in Midlothian.
A bad snap and a safety gave the Panthers the win.
Receiver Brandon Vela put Mineral Wells when he reeled in two touchdown passes.
Mineral Wells running backs Orlando Wright and Zach Elliot helped the Rams move into scoring position.
The Mineral Wells B team was led by Mark Pecachek, Orlando Wright and Chase Williams, according to Rams coach Stephen Morris.
“It was a tough battle with an unsatisfactory result for all of the kids. They are determined to win,” the Mineral Wells freshman coach said.
Mineral Wells A 45 - Midlothian A 34
The freshman A-team from Mineral Wells took an exciting win over the Midlothian Panthers on Thursday in Midlothian.
Mineral Well’s high scoring offense was led by running back Dylan Rose, who had three touchdowns, and running back Adrian Colbert, who also had three touchdowns including a 75-yard scoring run.
“Our tight end Tyler Tennerson scored a touchdown when he made a great catch from quarterback Hunter McCoy,” Rams coach Stephen Morris said. “The offensive line was led by Jeremy Junkins and Lane Waters. Lane really came through for those touchdowns.”
Morris said the Rams’ defense was stout.
“The defense played a great game. They just pummeled the Panthers into submission. It was led by inside linebackers Dylan Rose and Leo Gonzalez,” the coach said. “We also had a great performance by outside linebackers Brack Littlepage and Ismael Valley.“
Morris also noted the defensive line was led by Eli Weathers and Rose, who had two sacks.
“It was a wonderful game and we’re really look forward to seeing these men play in two weeks against the Saginaw Rough Riders,” Morris said.
Junior Varsity
Midlothian 33 - Mineral Wells 0
The Mineral Wells Rams junior varsity team took a 33-0 loss to the Midlothian Panthers on the road on Thursday.
The Rams JV slipped to 0-3 on the year after the loss.
