Senior Center News

United Way helps support senior center

I don’t mean to imply that there is any connection between Hallowe’en and Cathy Torres, but rather it is chance that have the two events appear concurrently. At 9 a.m., Oct. 28th, Ms. Torres will set up her geriatric social worker business, from which she will see those who have made appointments for information regarding resources and services available through her office. About the same time, spooks, goblins, a witch or two, and also perhaps Snow White and her dwarf friends will also arrive, dressed for a party, games and surprises. For those in costume, there will be judging at 11:30 a.m. and awards.

The purpose is fun and not fright. As a matter of fact, if you are not frightened by the every day look of some of us, you certainly have nothing to fear from those in costume. Come join in the fun.

To finish up the week and the month of October, the birthday party will be celebrated on the last Friday of October, at the usual time. Beginning at 10 a.m., The Band will begin their music, followed by the party at 11:30 a.m. All seniors present and having had a birthday during the month will be recognized, one lucky celebrant will be awarded the beautiful floral centerpiece donated each month by Cole Florists, and lunch will be served, followed by birthday cake and ice cream to everyone. Healthline and IntegraCare, both good friends of the center, sponsor this affair each month. You have to make a reservation, however, to get your name on the lunch list. Call the center at 325-6470 and tell them I sent you.
