GARNER – Garner ISD recently conducted graduation ceremonies for its students completing the eighth grade.
Of the 17 students graduating from Garner ISD, eight maintained an overall average of 90 throughout the school year. Also, seven of these students took Pre-AP Algebra in Mineral Wells to earn a high school credit and the entire class took a semester of high school health and earned one-half credit.
Marisa Leann Owens, 13, was valedictorian with an average of 96.6. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Owens.
When asked what helped her achieve this honor, Marisa said she listened to the teachers and applied it to her work. She has wanted to be valedictorian all year and has worked hard, as her classmates challenged her.
Her favorite subjects are band and Language Arts. She will attend Millsap High School and has a strong interest in drama, marching band and Beta.
Zachary Lee Evans, 13, was salutatorian this year with an average of 95. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery Evans. Zach said paying attention and doing his homework helped him to achiever this honor. Toward the end of school Zach decided he wanted to be one of the top students. His favorite subjects are Math and athletics.
He will also attend Millsap High School and wants to participate in basketball, football and Beta.
