Selected Travis fourth and fifth grade art classes recently entered the 2013 Parker and Palo Pinto Arbor Day Poster Contest, sponsored by the Clark Gardens Botanical Park Garden Club.
On May 7, those classes submitted posters for judging with the theme “Trees are Terrific ... in All Shapes and Sizes!”
Travis is pleased to announce that fifth graders Angelik Navarro and Arington Mazur tied for first place in the contest. Both students were honored by Clark Gardens in several ways. They received a certificate, a year’s family membership for four to Clark Gardens and the non-profit botanical park planted two trees in their honor at the school. In addition, they received recognition on the school’s televised announcements.
The students’ posters are on display at the Mineral Wells Boyce Ditto library and at the Weatherford library for a limited time.
