The MWHS UIL Academic team competed in their UIL District meet in Lake Worth on Saturday, March 22. There will be 15 students representing 20 entries in nine events at the Regional meet May 1-3 at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. All first-, second-, and third-place victors will advance to the regional meet, and fourth-place finishers will be considered alternates to the regional meet.

MWHS Principal Jon Almeida believes the students’ successes in the academic competition are a result of a good foundation of knowledge and skills being provided by the district, but acknowledges that the students are also self-motivated to use the academic competition for opportunities for enrichment beyond the regular classroom learning experience. Our students and teachers are committed to being the best, and the results are evidence of that.
