MWHS can food drive
The students and faculty at Mineral Wells High School just concluded a canned food drive sponsored by the Student Council. There was a competition between the classes and faculty to see who could bring the most cans for donation.
The winning group received a pizza party for lunch. Early in the competition, the faculty led the way with the most cans donated.
As time for the contest drew to an end, the juniors and seniors became quite competitive. The seniors prevailed in the end to bring in the most cans and win the competition.
The Class of 2014 brought in 403 cans followed closely by the juniors with 330.
There will be 1,000 cans of food taken to First Christian Church to help needy families in our community. Even though the students and faculty had fun with the competition and eating the pizza, their main goal was to provide food for needy families in our community.
Special thanks goes out to all the staff and students at MWHS for their donations, and special recognition to Mrs. Libby Wiley, her hard-working student council members, and Old School Pizza for making the drive a success.
