Boosting school spirit at MWJH

With the pressure of most state assessments complete and the insanity of the end of the year fast approaching, the teachers at Mineral Wells Junior High began to engage in some friendly and good natured competition.

Teachers were divided into teams represented by countries and did their level best to outdo their competition.  Pictured above is “Team China: All Star Dynasty.”

Administrators jump started the competition by supplying teachers with tea from Chicken Express as part of teacher appreciation week. As the week progressed, teams engaged in reciprocal giving to try to show their team spirit. Fruit was delivered by team Madagascar while red, white and blue slushes made their way into the hands of unsuspecting teachers, courtesy of Team USA. Team China was not to be outdone, supplying chicken and rolls, courtesy of Chicken Express, with Team Mexico pitching in chips and dips.

Not only has food been served, but bewildered students have witnessed name tags with flags, berets for team France and hallways decorated by teachers spending time after school. All of this was a part of an experiment in team building and morale boosting that began with the beginning of the year, and continued with anonymous teachers (TFT and CTM) visiting the school after hours, placing posters of encouragement throughout the school.

Staff and administrators at Mineral Wells Junior High are helping students “Shoot for the Stars” and do great things in their lives.
