Lamar Elementary posts schedule

For parents of Mineral Wells ISD’s very youngest students, there are some key dates and times to mark on the calendar to help prepare kids for their first days of school. They are:

• Thursday, Aug. 22 – Meet the teacher 5-6 p.m.

• Monday, Aug. 26 – first day of school: first grade comes from 7:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.; morning prekindergarten/orientation for parents is 8:30-9:15 a.m. ; afternoon prekindergarten/orientation for parents is 12:20-1:05 p.m.

• Aug. 26 and Aug.  27 – kindergarten will come for half days only, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

• Aug. 28 – kindergarten begins full day of classes, from 7:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.

In addition, today is prekindergarten registration, 9 a.m.-noon and 2-7 p.m. at the Lamar Elementary Cafeteria, 2012 S.E. 12th St.

Prekindergarten is for children who will be 4 years old by Sept. 1 and qualify due to the financial situation of the family or if a language other than English is the primary language of the family.

Please bring: proof of income (examples are most recent pay stub, last year’s tax return, food stamps (letter with number), Supplemental Security Income (deposit proof). A birth certificate, social security card and an updated immunization record must be presented before registering.
