Kimberly Canales-Diego is an outstanding seventh-grader at Mineral Wells Junior High School.
She has consistently earned grades at the top of her class, and she works hard at maintaining the high standards typical of all self-motivated students on the road to success.
Her exemplary grades, behavior, positive attitude, and school attendance have been monitored since the sixth grade, and made her a finalist for the 2013-14 Close Up Washington Middle School Program that trains students in the democratic process, issues and community service.
It is the hope and expectation of the Migrant Education Program at Education Service Center Region 11 that Kimberly return to her community inspired to become a leader committed to public service and completion of a four-year university program.
The process for this academic year’s candidates was rigorous and difficult for the selection committee. Students were nominated based on grades, behavior, attitude, and the desire and willingness to serve diligently as community leaders. In addition, the committee looked at the students’ determination to complete a university program in the future.
Congratulations to Kimberly Canales-Diego for her selection as a 2014 Close-Up participant.
