Junior History Club elects new officers and visits museum

By Mary Creighton

The Mineral Wells Junior History Club met at Pasta Fina on May 8 for their business meeting and luncheon. President Bonnie Ray introduced the nominations for new officers.

New officers elected for the coming year are President Mary A. Smith, Vice President Lynn Waddy and Secretary/Treasurer Lanie Wright. After the business meeting, the group traveled to Weatherford to view a museum developed by a retired Weatherford College professor and his wife. These two have collected a large range of objects from various Native American tribes and cultures in South America.

The Museum of the Americas is free to the public but donations do help with the upkeep of the vast displays that change from time to time, depending on season or holiday. With this in mind the Junior History Club plans to return at a later date for more displays.
