MWHS band members have strong showings at recent contests

On Feb. 18, Mineral Wells High School had 11 members who represented the school at the Region 2 UIL Solo & Ensemble contest in Wichita Falls. All 11 members will be advancing to the state contest.

Junior Melissa Galicia, junior Bethyaheli Jimenez, sophomore Samantha Peoples and freshman Lauren Bell will advance as a clarinet quartet. Senior Justin Campbell, junior Marshall Crabtree and freshman J.D. Choate will advance as a saxophone trio. Sophomore Chris Ibarra, sophomore Enrique Gamboa and freshman Matt Turner will advance as a trombone trio. Sophomore Chris Ibarra will advance on a memorized trombone solo, and freshman Ethan Caldwell will advance on a memorized alto sax solo.
