Lamar Elementary students collect box tops for BTE education program

Mineral Wells Index

— Special to the Index

Lamar Elementary is collecting Box Tops for Education! Since 1996, the BTE program has helped schools across America earn cash for the things they need. Each box top coupon is worth 10 cents for the school. Each eligible school participating in the program may earn up to $20,000 cash per year from the Clip program. Lamar’s total for this school year is $694.

That is 6,940 box tops!

Ms. Glidewell, the school’s librarian, “inherited” the box top project a few years ago and had no idea how involved, popular, and successful it would be.

“I think it is especially important because so many of our families can participate. Our students are always so proud to arrive in the library with a sheet of box tops!” She went on to explain,  “The whole community supports us in collecting box tops. We have churches, and hair salons saving box tops for students they know. Some parent workplaces collect them for a child.  Grandparents have been known to send them from out of state, and our MWHS Honor Society collects them for us, as well.”

We invite the community to join our efforts by sending any collected box tops to the school office. Please support our schools today and see what a difference you can make just by collecting Box Tops for Education.
