— The web publisher Every Day Fiction announced on its blog it will feature Gerald Warfield’s “beautiful ghost story” in its Father’s Day edition.

In the Mineral Wells resident's story, “Pastorale No. 1,” a boy comes to grips with bullying with the help of his father, who happens to be a ghost.

About the story, Warfield said, “Many of us believe that love extends beyond the grave, and for a parent’s love, that remains important even as we get older.”

On Father’s Day you can read the story at www.everydayfiction.com.

This is Warfield’s third story to be published by EDF. Recently, his “Spores of the Volcano” appeared in the prestigious Campbellian 2014 anthology, and another science fiction story is scheduled to appear this month in the ezine Perihelion.

Referring to his Father’s Day story, Warfield said, “A good way for a new writer to get published is to write for special occasions. Magazine editors, especially, are looking for stories to go with particular holidays.”

On Saturday, Warfield lectured on “The Transformational Arc in Literature” at the North Texas Writers Workshop in Fort Worth, a presentation he will repeat in July at St. Anselm’s College in New Hampshire. You can see Warfield’s website at www.geraldwarfield.com.
