The United Way of Palo Pinto County received a surprise donation Thursday afternoon from PECO-FACET through the Clarcor Foundation.
United Way’s executive director Marilyn Rhodes thanked the company officials who presented the check, commenting that PECO has always been a strong supporter of the organization.
“We’re committed to supporting the community and we view the United Way as [a] good vehicle with which to do that,” remarked PECO-FACET president Chris Conway.
Conway, Doris McConnell and Brian Czajkowski presented Rhodes with a $2,093.64 check, which represented “a 50 percent match of [the] employee contributions …”
McConnell, the company’s human resources manager, said the donation was a surprise as the employees didn’t know there would be matching funds.
“It’s over and above,” Rhodes commented. “They made a corporate pledge and an employee pledge during the campaign.
“It will be very well used and is greatly appreciated.”
In November, the organization announced they raised $160,349.83, which was well over the $135,000 goal. The United Way of Palo Pinto County assists several area organizations with funding.
