Due to the recent closure and consolidation of the Farm Service Agency offices in Granbury and Mineral Wells, reorganization of the county committees must take place by Jan. 1.
Regulations state that combined counties served by one administrative office will have three to five local administrative areas established by the affected County FSA Committees.
Regulations also state that the county office shall publish the proposed changes in the LAA boundaries and provide a 15-day comment period from eligible voters before the proposed LAA boundaries are submitted to the Texas State FSA Committee for approval.
The Parker, Palo Pinto Hood-Somervell FSA committees have unanimously and jointly recommended the following changes to the local administrative area boundaries:
• Parker County would compose one LAA and the county lines would designate the boundaries and be represented by one county committee person.
• Palo Pinto County would compose one LAA and the county lines would designate the boundaries and be represented by one county committee person.
• Hood County would compose one LAA and the county lines would designate the boundaries and be represented by one county committee person.
• Somervell County is currently one LAA and no changes would occur.
If approved the Parker, Palo Pinto Hood-Somervell County Committee will be composed of four members, with a representative from each county.
Eligible voters are encouraged to submit their comments concerning this proposed Local Administrative Area Boundary changes.
Comments may be submitted to: Parker, Palo Pinto, Hood, Somervell Farm Service Agency, 604 N. Main, Suite 100, Weatherford, TX 76086, attention: Michael S. Sweatt, CED.
The telephone number is (817) 594-4672 and the fax number is (817) 599-6109.
The comment period ends March 30.
