Police chase leads to man's arrest

A vehicle chase through Mineral Wells on April 15 led to the arrest of a Mineral Wells man.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety reports, the chase began on U.S. Highway 281 South and ended when the driver, Thomas Martinez, 28, crashed at S.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Street and S.E. 25th Avenue.

Officials reported that Martinez was traveling southbound on S.E. 25th Avenue and attempted to turn right on S.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Street when he ran through the planter and blew out the tires of his vehicle.

According to reports, Martinez ran off the north side of the roadway, striking a fire hydrant and utility pole before his vehicle stopped.

Martinez was transported to Palo Pinto General Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries, officials reported. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of collision.Martinez was booked into Palo Pinto County Jail April 15, charged with evading arrest/detention with a vehicle. He bonded out April 16 after posting a $10,000 bond.

Burglary
• 200 block of S.E. 17th Avenue – A 2000 GMC truck was reported burglarized Thursday; the vehicle was unlocked. Six Vera Bradley bags valued at $900 were reported stolen.

Arrests
The Mineral Wells Police Department reported making the following arrests:

• Jose Jomero Benavente Jr., 29, of Bridgeport, was arrested Thursday on a parole violation warrant.

• Jason Lee Brock, 24, of Weatherford, was arrested Thursday for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram.

• Billy Joe Burks Jr., 27, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Thursday on five MWPD traffic warrants.

• Alfred Lucas Caldwell, 17, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Monday for resisting arrest and public intoxication.

• Tony Marvin Carr, 45, of Perrin, was arrested Friday on a Jack County bond forfeiture warrant.

• Walter David Ewing, 49, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Thursday for assault-family violence and a MWPD traffic warrant.

• Raymond Wayne Kite, 34, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Friday for no driver’s license and no insurance.

• Kevin Wayne Lee, 36, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Thursday on nine MWPD traffic warrants.

• Jose Antonio Luna-Gonzalez, 26, was arrested Wednesday on an Immigration and Naturalization Services hold.

• Matthew Glenn Robinson, 24, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Monday on a Palo Pinto Count Sheriff’s Office warrant for assault with bodily injury.

• Tod Quintin Steindurf, 38, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Tuesday on two MWPD traffic warrants.

ª Bridgett Nicole Taylor, 19, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Monday on a MWPD warrant for theft less than $50 and a MWPD warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Michael Lee Vallance, 22, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Thursday for no driver’s license and no insurance.

• Marvin Ray Whitlack, 44, of Graham, was arrested Wednesday on a Young County warrant for assault with bodily injury.
