Palo Pinto General Hospital Auxiliary recently presented six 2008 educational health care scholarship awards in the amount of $1,000 each to Mirenda Taylor (Mineral Wells), Leticia Martinez (Mineral Wells), Stefanie Charles (Mineral Wells), Alicia Walker (Graford), Cheyenne Sellmeyer (Santo) and Brittni Rhoades (Gordon). Mineral Wells student Stephanie Mays, 18, right, receives a scholarship check from Beth Ray. In honor of her late husband, Ted, Beth Ray established a scholarship fund to benefit two students each year who are going into nursing or the medical field. Last year’s recipient was a girl from Lipan. Mays is a home-schooled student and plans to attend the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton.
