MWPD Arrests

• A traffic stop late Saturday night led to the arrest of a Seymour, Texas, man on a felony drug charge.

According to Mineral Wells police reports, a police corporal observed a Mercury four-door car at 11:35 p.m. Saturday traveling westbound on East Hubbard Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop after the car turned south on S.E. 3rd Avenue for a defective license plate lamp, officials said.

Stopped in the 300 block of S.E. 2nd Avenue, the officer reported encountering a male driver and two female passengers. Officials said the driver initially claimed his name was Jimmy Teague; dispatch returned a subject description that didn't match the driver, police reported.

The driver admitted his name was George Bronson Keith, 27, of Seymour, officials said. They said Keith told the officer he gave a false name because he knew he had a suspended license.

Keith was placed under arrest for failure to identify.

Officials said the officer noticed a bag of insulin needles and a red baggie of what they believe to be methamphetamine on the driver's side floorboard of the car. Keith told the officer he had a controlled substance in his sock, officials said, which was retrieved.

Three additional red baggies containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine, a digital scale and a pipe were recovered from the back seat, officials said. Keith was also charged with possession of a controlled substance greater than 4 grams and less than 200 grams with the intent to deliver, which is a second-degree felony.

• Police are investigating the death of a Mineral Wells woman found non-responsive Sunday in her hotel room.

Officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of South Oak in reference to a woman not breathing. Informed she was diabetic, first responders arrived at the scene and found the 32-year-old deceased with no apparent cause of death, officialsreported.

Police reported finding an empty prescription bottle for morphine belonging to someone else in a trashcan. The husband advised authorities he didn't know how many pills she took; the woman had reportedly been in the hospital a day prior for an amputated toe, officials said.

The woman's body was sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office and an autopsy was ordered. According to police officials, there were “no obvious signs of trauma or death and the case is under investigation pending the autopsy and toxicology reports.”

Arrests:

The Mineral Wells Police Department reported making the following arrests:

• Glen Edward Long Jr., 30, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Friday for open container and failure to identify.

• Jamie Lee Long, 22, of Weatherford, was arrested Friday on a Palo Pinto County Sheriff's Office warrant for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.

• Joey Dominic Rogers, 28, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Sunday for driving while license invalid and no insurance.

• Divone Lee Ward, 19, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Saturday on six MWPD traffic warrants.
