Use of stun gun brings end to police chase

A Mineral Wells man was hit with a stun gun and arrested early Friday morning after a short foot chase through a mobile home park.

According to Mineral Wells police reports, an officer attempted a traffic stop at the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 1195 and Airport Road at 2:54 a.m. after Edward Monroe Gordon, 50, allegedly drove his motorcycle through a stop sign. Police gave a brief chase into Tuck’s Mobile Home Park located in the 2000 block of FM 1195 where Gordon reportedly abandoned his motorcycle and ran on foot.

Gordon allegedly ran 40 yards in the park yelling that he didn’t want to go back to prison when he ran into a parked motorcycle by a tree and fell down, officers reported. When the suspect stood back up to flee, officials said the police officer used a Taser and struck Gordon in the back.

Gordon was placed under arrest and charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.


Ongoing assault investigation

Police are still investigating the assault of a Mineral Wells man that sent him to the hospital early Sunday morning.

Mineral Wells police were dispatched to the Palo Pinto County Livestock Expo Building, located in the 1200 block of Farm-to-Market Road 1821 North, at 1:21 a.m. Sunday in reference to a fight. Upon their arrival, officials said the officers found a man “severely injured.”

The victim reportedly was involved in altercations with several males and was assaulted, police said. Of the alleged attackers, Geronimo Villa Salas, 20, of Holcomb, Kan., was still at the premises upon officers’ arrival. Salas was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.


Flight of freedom curtailed

A woman temporarily escaped custody after her Sunday arrest for driving while intoxicated.

Mineral Wells police officials arrested Elizabeth Irene Dorney, 50, of Mineral Wells, on the charge of driving while intoxicated – third or more offense. When an officer pulled into the Palo Pinto County Jail’s sally port and got Dorney out of the car, she took off running across the property, officials reported. She was apprehended after a short foot chase and booked in the jail.

She was charged with driving while intoxicated – third or more offense and escape.


Burglary foiled

A burglary victim chased down the man that burglarized his vehicle late Friday, Mineral Wells police reported.

According to police reports, a man identified as Matthew Shane Collins, 22, of Mineral Wells, broke into a vehicle at 11:22 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of South Oak Avenue and stole a stereo faceplate. The vehicle’s owner and a Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s Office deputy reportedly chased Collins down.

The stereo faceplate was reportedly found in Collins’ possession and returned to its owner. Collins was placed under arrest for burglary of a vehicle and a motion to revoke Tarrant County warrant for possession of a dangerous drug.


Rosamond arrested

Charged with animal abuse for allegedly dragging a dog behind him truck in April, Mineral Wells resident J.R. Rosamond was arrested again Wednesday on a parole violation warrant from Austin.

Mineral Wells police officials confirmed the 70-year-old was arrested Wednesday afternoon at the parole office when he went to report in. Rosamond was released at approximately 2:30 p.m. to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office.


Juvenile arrested

Mineral Wells police arrested a 15-year-old male Monday morning charged with burglarizing the Country Loft Bakery.

A Mineral Wells police official said they were notified of the burglary at 6:03 a.m. Monday and discovered the bakery’s back two doors were pried open. A computer monitor, rolls of change and a radio/CD player were reported stolen and a credit card machine and phone were discovered in a trashcan.

Investigation led authorities to a residence in the 100 block of N.W. 6th Avenue where the juvenile resident was discovered. Authorities said the stolen property was located inside his bedroom.

A 15-year-old female was later picked up by an officer and detained but not charged. The juvenile male was charged with burglary of a building. All of the items were returned to the victim, police said.


Burglaries

• 200 block of Evergreen – A house was reported burglarized with entry made through an unlocked back door. Ten beach towels valued at $110 and a Polaroid digital camera valued at $160 were reported stolen.

• 300 block of S.E. 6th Street – A church was reported burglarized Sunday with a door kicked open. A JVC stereo system valued at $300 was reported stolen.

• 600 block of Farm-to-Market Road 1821 – A 5-gallon gas can full of fuel was reported stolen Saturday from the back of a pickup. The fuel was valued at $20.

• 4100 block of U.S. Highway 180 East – A 1984 Ford pickup was reported burglarized Thursday with Pioneer speakers, an amplifier and a CD player reported stolen. The total value of the items is assessed at $551.


Arrests

The Mineral Wells Police Department reported making the following arrests:

• Timothy Lee Brann, 39, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Sunday for public intoxication.

• Jami Lynn Burks, 27, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Sunday on an Anderson County warrant for criminal nonsupport.

• Amanda Virginia Bryant, 26, of Weatherford, was arrested Monday on a MWPD warrant for credit card abuse.

• Ciarra Lashonda Clark, 21, of Mineral Wells, was arrested July 1 for no driver’s license, no insurance, open container of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Jessica Cotton, 19, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Thursday on a failure to appear warrant from Palo Pinto County on a larceny charge.

• Alvaro Garza, 53, of Jacksboro, was arrested Monday for no driver’s license and no insurance.

• Jose Luis Garza, 34, of Del Rio, was arrested Saturday for driving while intoxicated.

• Christopher Lloyd Glover, 23, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Saturday for possession of a controlled substance greater than 1 gram and less than 4 grams, no driver’s license and no insurance.

• Joshua Royce Howard, 18, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Thursday for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.

• Curtis Howell, 41, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Thursday for public intoxication.

• Clifton Wayne Howeth, 27, of Graford, was arrested Sunday for simple assault.

• Stephanie Ann Montes, 24, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Saturday for no driver’s license and no insurance.

• Michael Dewayne Sparks, 38, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Friday on two MWPD traffic warrants.

• Gustavo Efrain Suarez, 21, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Saturday on three MWPD traffic warrants and placed on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold.

• Mila George Westbrook, 22, of Goodyear, Ariz., was arrested Tuesday on a probation violation warrant from Maricopa, Ariz., for aggravated robbery.

• Theodore Saron Williams, 60, of Mineral Wells, was arrested Friday for theft less than $50.
