Operation Homefront launched its sixth annual toy drive to collect gifts for military families with children.
In conjunction with Dollar Tree stores nationwide, the nonprofit organization will distribute collected toys to the families in time for the holiday season.
Last year, the toy drive collected more than 7 million toys, which Operation Homefront President and CEO Jim Knotts said helped relieve some of the stress in many military families.
“For service members with kids, especially in the lower- and mid-grade ranks, holiday shopping is a major expense that can blow a hole in the family budget,” Knotts said. Those willing to donate during the program are “helping our men and women in uniform provide for their families in these tough economic times,” he added.
In addition to donating toys at Dollar Tree stores, Operation Homefront also accepts online donations for the toy drive and multiple other assistance programs.
