Following Tuesday’s election, churches across America will participate in a special communion ceremony.
Partnering with more than 500 other places of worship, First Christian Church of Mineral Wells will begin a local Election Day communion service beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The church, located at 302 N.W. 6th St., will be open to any Christian wishing to attend, according to Rev. Pamela Holt.
She said the event is an important opportunity for believers of all political stripes to come together at the conclusion of a contentious campaign season.
According to its website, electiondaycommunion.org, the Election Day Communion Campaign formed to combat the idea that Christians “are being shaped more by the tactics and ideologies of political parties than by their identity in and allegiance to Jesus.”
Holt said this event will be an opportunity for individuals to set aside partisan differences and embrace the spiritual ties between them.
The communion service is open to Christians of all denominations, she explained.
