Authorities round up door-to-door solicitors

Palo Pinto County Pct. 5 Constable Gary Morris said local authorities responded Thursday to complaints that a group of individuals were targeting residents with magazine solicitations.

The group of 11 were from various states, he said, noting they have all been staying at a Dallas area hotel.

As of Thursday afternoon, Morris said officers had gathered nine suspects, explaining one more was at a local hospital for unknown injuries.

“They were going door-to-door selling Blue Diamond magazine,” he said, noting an online search of the title revealed “a lot of complaints.”

The driver of a Dodge van reportedly dropped off the solicitors, who made their rounds in area neighborhoods awaiting the return of their ride.

“They are actually taking cash,” he said, “which is just insane.”

He said the solicitors could be charged with misdemeanors, though he explained his priority was escorting them out of Mineral Wells.
