One man was jailed as a result of an aggravated kidnapping, Sunday, March 30.

Edward Kyle Byrd, 39, of Millsap, remained in Palo Pinto County Jail on charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony. Total bonds were set at $300,000.

Byrd was arrested by Parker County Sheriff's deputies at his home in Millsap after Palo Pinto County Sheriff's deputies had responded to a welfare check in Mineral Wells regarding Byrd's wife, said Capt. Craig Goen, a criminal investigator with the Palo Pinto County Sheriff's Office.

He said early Sunday morning Byrd allegedly broke into his father-in-law's home south of Mineral Wells, where his wife was staying, and forced her to leave the premises with him. Palo Pinto County sheriff's deputies learned that Byrd may be heading to his home in Millsap and alerted Parker County authorities of the reported kidnapping.

Byrd and his wife had been separated for some time, Goen said.

Parker County deputies spotted Byrd driving up to his home, and initiated a traffic stop, he said. Byrd gave up to deputies without any resistance.

At the time of his arrest, Byrd was in possession of a Glock semiautomatic pistol, Goen said.

Byrd was transported to Palo Pinto County Jail after his arrest because the crime originated in the county, he said.

Byrd's wife had bruises, but was not seriously injured, he said.
