GORDON – Almost one year after it began, the Gordon Farmer’s Market, held each Saturday morning, continues to offer county and area individuals an opportunity to sell or buy goods, including fresh produce, artesian breads, honey, craftware and painted furniture.

Last July, the Gordon Economic Development Corporation initiated a weekly Farmer’s Market, which is open each Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon.

This free event – free to vendors, too – takes place on Oak Street in downtown Gordon, across the street and north of the city park. The park also plays host to a variety of musicians on Saturday mornings, and any musician is invited to “bring your guitar and pick,” according musician and GEDC director Linda Dennis.

Market organizers hope to get more county citizens to participate by selling their goods – plants, extra garden produce, arts and crafts and the like.

On Saturday, the “bread man” brought loaves of fresh-baked wild yeast sourdough bread and a variety of foccacia-styled bread with toppings. Although the market is open until noon, organizers recommend coming early, since produce goes fast.

There is no charge for vendors. For those interested in selling their local produce, show up Saturday morning in Gordon. For more information, call Gordon City Hall at (254) 693-5676.
