PALO PINTO Make it a day for the family Saturday at the Palo Pinto County Historical Association Old Jail Complex in Palo Pinto as the organization celebrates Frontier Days and Palo Pinto County Old Settlers’ Reunion.
The day-long event in Palo Pinto, goes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features live music, demonstrations of frontier crafts, lunch and a car show.
Old Settlers’ Reunion is a tradition in many Texas towns dating back to pioneering days. The old settlers will reunite from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Tabernacle in the park, about two blocks from the courthouse.
Enjoy music, while honoring the pioneers and settlers of Palo Pinto County. In addition to the music there will be a historical presentation and recognition of “the Old Settlers” and their descendants.
Additional Frontier Day activities in Palo Pinto include:
• A classic car show, 1-5 p.m., which takes place around the Palo Pinto County Courthouse square.
• Mule-drawn wagon rides.
• Demonstrations of whittling, doll making, quilting, flint knapping, spinning and more.
• Live music.
• Barbeque lunch, 12:30-2 p.m.
• Tours of some of the county’s historic buildings – the Old Jail, Fort Black Springs, log cabins and the First Christian Church.
