A collaboration between local law enforcement and faith leaders will again present an Independence Day celebration at Ram Stadium.

According to PRAY Mineral Wells spokesperson Rose Jordan, Mineral Wells Police Chief Dean Sullivan asked her group to organize the July 4th event, which is set to begin at 5 p.m.

“While Chicken Express will continue to sponsor the fireworks, PRAY Mineral Wells and the police department will work together to bring fun to the hours preceding the fireworks display,” she explained.

The pyrotechnic finale will cap off the night’s festivities, but Jordan said she is looking for additional entertainers and representatives from area churches, ministries, and non-profit groups to join in.

Worship teams and artists can sign up to perform half-hour sets, she said. Other groups and organizations will be able to set up free booths to distribute information and answer questions.

“Though spectators will not be permitted in the stands until 8 p.m., there will be plenty to do,” she added.

As for involvement from the MWPD, Sullivan said many of the same resources as last year will be available with a number of new opportunities.

“We will still have the community connection booth, we’ll have a pet adoption,” he said. “There will be police and fire apparatus out there on display.”

Attendees will also have access to crime prevention information and youth identification resources, according to Sullivan.
