‘Black Friday’ has local businesses and shoppers seeing green

By CLINT FOSTER

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and the very next day is one of the biggest sales holidays of the entire year. Millions of people nationwide will pack stores and malls on Black Friday for exclusive deals and specials to kick off, or in some cases finish, their Christmas shopping.

Many businesses right here in Mineral Wells will be offering some deals of their own.

According to store manager Ann Burns, Bealls will offer over 300 Black Friday door busters. They will be open from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Thanksgiving night and give away scratch-off coupons to the first 50 customers, each redeemable for a gift card: one worht $100, another worth $50 and the rest worth $10. Folks in line will also receive hot apple cider and cookies and have the opportunity to play games. Burns said shoppers can check the store’s Facebook page for opportunities to win more prizes.

On Friday Bealls will open at 6 a.m., again offering scratch-off coupons to the first 50 customers. The store will have “Mega Doorbusters” on many items including a 7-inch tablet for $49.99 and a digital camera for $19.99, while supplies last. Burns said they will also have a buy-one-get-one-free sale throughout the store on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.

VF Factory Outlet Manager Terry Randle said his store will also offer a select number of scratch-off coupons for anywhere from 10-percent off a total purchase to free on a purchase of up to $250 value. He said three winners got free orders last year.

They will also have specials on $18 men’s polos, buy-one-get-two-free, and women’s outerwear, including free gloves.

Randle said VF Factory Outlet will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Everything in store will be 10-percent off on Saturday.

Ace Hardware will offer discount coupons in store and the Palo Pinto County Shopper. Manager Tim Hampton said they will offer bargains all weekend long, so people don’t feel like they have to rush. He mentioned sales on a new chiminea, patio heaters, tools and many other gifts starting Friday morning.
