Mineral Wells reaped the benefits of scattered showers around North Texas last weekend, receiving a much needed .58 inches of rain on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
After highs in the triple digits for five straight days, temperatures dropped like a spring hailstone from 102 degrees on Saturday to a high of 83 degrees on Sunday. Rain continued through the night and into the day on Monday, but no official measurement has been announced yet.
At this point last year, Mineral Wells had only received .24 inches of rain in the month of July with temperatures consistently in the mid- to upper- 90s. A reported 1.75 inches fell during all of July in 2012. Mineral Wells received no rain at all in July of 2011 and highs were over 100 degrees all month long.
