Betty Hawkins, speaking to a meeting last Thursday of the Mineral Wells Heritage Association, told of her adventures as a child actress in Hollywood.
She went on to tell of her return to Mineral Wells and her work with special children.
Hawkins, a long-time resident of Mineral Wells, taught drama and is well known for the mounting of student theater productions at the Mineral Wells High School.
Of her wide and varied career she said she believed that God had a plan for her.
She ended her presentation Thursday evening with the singing of “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder” and the blowing of a special chofar from the Holy Land made from the horn of an Eland.
The Mineral Wells Heritage Association meets for a program and refreshments the second Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Rock School Museum, 105 N.W. 5th Ave.

MaKaylee Dawn Steiner, 14-year-old daughter of Dieter and Misty Steiner, of Mineral Wells, and granddaughter of Edwin and Debbie Fowler and Dieter K. & Stevie Jo Steiner, also of Mineral Wells, has been selected as a candidate in the 2013 Miss Teen of Texas Scholarship and Recognition Pageant.
