PET OF THE WEEK: Female shepherd available for adoption

By Ellen Hargle | Special to the Index

“Willow” is a small, female German shepherd found wandering along Sartain Road. She is very thin and was likely on her own for quite some time.

A family saw her near their home and their young son rescued her. Willow will weigh around 50 pounds when, with a little TLC, she fills out her thin frame.

German shepherds tend to be loyal, intelligent and bond well to people they know. Willow is shy in her new surroundings but bonds quickly.

In a gentle home, with time for her to adjust, she’ll likely be very playful, curious, interested in people and engaged with her surroundings. These traits trace back to the breed’s origins – first exhibited in the U.S. in 1907.

Willow appears to have keen intelligence and learns new things very quickly. She has shown she likes children and gets along with other kind, gentle dogs.

Please consider adopting a dog or cat from the Mineral Wells Animal Shelter. The shelter is full and must humanely euthanize dogs and cats it can not place in forever homes.

The cost of adoption includes spaying and a rabies shot. To adopt Willow or any of numerous dogs and cats at the shelter at (940) 328-7752.
