Friday wrecks send three to hospital

Three accidents occurred in Mineral Wells, Friday, leading to the transport of three individuals to hospitals.

The first wreck involved two cars in the 600 block of East Hubbard Street, not long after 1 p.m.

According to an accident report, the Mineral Wells Police Department and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene to find a silver 2005 Toyota Tundra had attempted to make a left turn out of the center lane, but struck the front end of a 2013 white Ford Taurus traveling in the left lane.

Each vehicle carried one passenger in addition to the driver. None of the individuals involved in this accident were injured seriously enough to necessitate transport.

The second accident, which resulted in the most injuries, involved three individuals on an all-terrain vehicle that crashed in the 4100 block of NE 5th Street at around 4:30 p.m.

MWPD said a female was driving the four-wheeler, but could provide little information about the nature of the crash. Because two individuals required helicopter transport to the hospital, two Air Evac choppers flew to the scene. Having picked up those injured, Air Evac transported both individuals to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth.

The final collision of the day took place at around 8:45 p.m. in the 3700 block of US Highway 180 East.

According to a MWPD accident report, a 2002 silver Toyota Avalon and a 2000 silver Toyota 4-Runner were stopped at a red light in the left lane when the westbound driver of a 1991 blue Chevrolet S-10 swerved from the right lane into the left lane and failed to stop for the stopped traffic.

The result was a domino wreck, in which the Chevy hit the 4-Runner, causing the 4-Runner to hit the Avalon. One individual involved in the wreck was injured, requiring Mineral Wells EMS to transport him or her to Palo Pinto General Hospital.

During their investigation of the accident, Police determined the driver of the Chevy did not have a driver's license. Having discovered this, MWPD arrested 31-year-old Miguel Cajero-Ibarra and booked him into Mineral Wells City Jail.
