Court Appointed Special Advocates of Palo Pinto and Parker Counties is continuing its fundraising efforts by appealing to donors ahead of Father’s Day.

Since CASA volunteers work on behalf of young abuse victims, Program Director Frances Wampler said the holiday provides a natural tie-in.

“This Father’s Day, we can all celebrate the special things about our dads ... and the commitment and sacrifices they make by giving to the local CASA organization’s fundraising campaign,” she said.

The effort is a continuation of the organization’s recently unveiled “A Dollar for CASA” campaign, proceeds from which will directly support volunteer work within the two counties it serves.

Executive Director Barb Tucker said advocates provide a vital service for the most vulnerable victims of abuse and neglect.

“CASA volunteers become a role model because they are often the one constant in a child’s life while he or she is in the foster care system,” she said. “Volunteers can help break the cycle of abuse from one generation to another and even model what a good mother looks like.”
