POSSUM KINGDOM LAKE – The coming of spring adds color from more than flowers. This Saturday begins that weeklong run of the 4th Annual Arte de los Brazos Art Show and Sale, and organizers expect between 140 to 160 works of art from area artists, free to view and all for sale.

This juried show opens Saturday at the Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce. It features works by artists from many art clubs, from locales like Graham, Mineral Wells, Breckenridge, Weatherford, Bosque County, Hamilton, Wichita Falls and Brownwood.

In addition, there will be seven invited artists-at-large, whose works will be on display but not judged.

New this year is a featured artist, Rance Jones, an international award-winning watercolor artist from Richardson. Jones, raised in West Texas, will display several pieces of his art.

Jones employs a realistic style that is “both refreshing and relative,” according to organizers. In addition, an Arte de Brazos press release states that his paintings “broaden the boundaries of watercolor technique,” and each is a “masterful example of how the artist portrays the world he explores through art.”

The Arte de los Brazos Art Show and Sale runs through Sunday, April 21. The PK Chamber is located at 362 North Farm-to-Market Road 2353 at Possum Kingdom Lake. Hours for the show are Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday 1 p.m.-4 p.m., and weekdays 2 p.m.-4 p.m. The show is free of charge to the public.

And there are some added happenings.

“We are bringing back wine tasting each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.,” said show chair James Smith.

Wineries this year will be Brennan Winery, this Saturday, and Times Ten Cellars Winery on April 20. There will be a small fee for tasting.

“In addition, we will have an event on Thursday evening,  April 18, called “Wine and Design – Uncork your Creativity,” said Smith.

For this event, Fort Worth's A Piece of Work will provide materials and art instructor to guide participants in painting an original piece of art. The fee for this evening is $40. To register, contact the PK Chamber at (940) 749-2424.

“These events were very popular last year, so we plan to do them again this year,” said Smith.

The show will also feature free, public seminars each Saturday at 11 a.m. The seminar this Saturday will address art collecting. Photography will be the subject for the seminar on April 20.

“Come on out to visit our show and sale for a spring fling of art,” Smith said. “Last year we had over 160 pieces in the show and sold over $10,000 of art.”
