Clark Gardens gearing up for festival fun this month


Bringing the spring season in with a bang, Clark Gardens is hosting its Annual Spring Festival March 29, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and March 30, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The festival is presented by Community National Bank and Trust of Texas and is CG's biggest event of the year.

"We are very excited," CG Public Events Coordinator Lauren Wright said. "We have spring, fall and holiday festivals. [Spring] is the best event we have out here and the most well attended, generally capping at 2,000 guests."

This year's event will host a variety of activities, including:

• Art.

• Cheese.

• Live music and entertainment.

• Classic car show (Saturday).

• Wine.

• Motorcycle show (Sunday).

• Plant sales.

• Children's area.

• Model train show.

• Education stations.

• Vendor area.

During the festival, artists will have their work on display, including some works for sale.

The Wine will be provided by Bushy Creeks Vineyards, Barking Rocks Vineyard and Winery and Blue Ostrich Winery and Vineyard. Cheese will be provided by Veldhuizen Cheese, El Camino De Las Cabras and Eagle Mountain Farm House Cheese. Other food options include Brazos Market and Bistro and Five Boys Ranch.

The classic car show, March 29, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., will be voted on 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The motorcycle show, March 30, beginning at 11 a.m., will be voted on 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Eligible bikes for entry include:

• Vintage/classic, any make, stock motorcycle 1985 or older.

• Custom, altered from stock


• American touring, baggers custom and stock.

• Custom factory bike, American Iron Horse.

• Metric sport bike.

• Rat bike.

• Trike, any three-wheeled motorcycle.

A people's choice award will be given to winners of both the car and motorcycle shows.

Education stations will be set up throughout the event, offering advice on how to garden, bee keep, identify trees, compost, tend to rabbits, container garden, tend to chickens and practice EarthKind gardening.

Various entertainers will perform all throughout the two-day event, including Brian Pounds from NBC's The Voice.

Admission is $10 per adult and $7 per child, 5 - 12 years old. No charge for children four and under. CG members have free admission.

    WASHINGTON — Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack recently provided a 12-week progress report on U.S. Department of Agriculture disaster assistance programs, announcing that USDA has processed 106,000 payments to farmers in 40 states across the country who suffered livestock and grazing losses between October 2011 and passage of the 2014 Farm Bill.

    HUDSON OAKS – A volunteer Hudson Oaks firefighter is in the Parker County Jail on charges he repeatedly sexually assaulted two young relatives over a several year period. Richard Frederick Adams Sr., 62, arrested Monday, faces two charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, a first-degree felony.
