All bets on the table for the children of Palo Pinto County

From staff reports

Get the bets ready – not just for the tables, but for the auction items as well – for Friday night’s Casino Night fundraiser. The event supports the Children’s Alliance Center for Palo Pinto County, because, as the tagline states, “the Children of Palo Pinto County are worth the gamble!”

The cards and dice will heat up and be in play at 7 p.m. at Holiday Hills Country Club. Tickets are $25 each and include HHCC hors d’oeuvres and “$200” in “play cash.”

Each ticket enters the ticket holder in the grand-prize drawing for an all-inclusive vacation package to the destination of choice (up to $1000).

But there are more prizes as well, including other large-scale donated items from a variety of community sponsors, such as power tools, a flat-screen TV,

other electronics and a variety of gift baskets.

Proceeds will benefit the new center, which incurred unexpected expenses when replacing the roof after May’s hail storm. The CAC has been undergoing renovation and is a few months away from opening and beginning to see clients and assist families.

Board Member Joy Eaton said funds they raise at Saturday’s event will help the center “be the best that we can be from the start” and will show the community’s support.

She added that the center has seen “an overwhelming response by many local businesses to provide sponsorships” for the fundraiser.

“We wouldn’t be able to do this without our sponsors,” Eaton said. “Please come out and support the CAC as well as our area sponsors.”

Cohen Casino parties is providing the entertainment for Friday evening and a cash bar will be available.

Tickets are available at the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce, Ace Hardware, Titan Bank and Cole’s Flowers.

Also on Friday night, the CAC board will kick off selling tickets for a Polaris Ranger, to be drawn Oct. 30 – just in time for deer-hunting season. Tickets are $20 each or six for $100. Raffle sales begin at the event, but will continue through Oct. 29.

For more information about Friday’s Casino Night tickets or for the Polaris Ranger raffle tickets, call Eaton at Cole’s Flowers, 940-325-6931.
