A local business is joining the ongoing effort to help residents of Granbury after a massive tornado killed six and destroyed entire neighborhoods earlier this month.
According to Woody’s Bar and Grill Manager Taylor Johnson, the proceeds from a car wash set for Sunday afternoon will go directly toward the relief effort in Hood County.
“It’s donation only,” she said, “There’s no minimum you have to do.”
The money raised will support Mission Granbury, which will then distribute necessities to those in need.
Johnson said Woody’s participated in another relief effort just after the May 15 storm, explaining she hopes to be able to help even more Sunday.
“We were a drop off spot for donations,” she said, explaining “we decided to do something bigger to help them in some way.”
In addition to leaving with a clean car, donors can also leave knowing they contributed to worthy cause. The event is not limited to monetary contributions, Johnson explained.
“People can still bring items to donate if they don’t want to bring cash,” she said. “What they needed when I spoke to them last was new clothing – nothing used – and they needed toiletries.”
The car wash will take place in the Woody’s parking lot, 6105 U.S. Highway 180 East.
“We’re going to start at noon and go on until we’re not sure exactly,” she said.
