I-20 chase ends in two arrests, possible drugs thrown from vehicle

By CHRISTIN COYNE

PARKER COUNTY – A high-speed pursuit through Parker County Friday night ended with the arrest of the driver and passenger who, police say, discarded drugs while fleeing Fort Worth and Parker County authorities.

A Hudson Oaks police officer attempted to stop the driver of a westbound yellow 2007 Pontiac G5 around 10 p.m. Friday night after reportedly observing reckless driving, including the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of traffic, failing to signal lane changes and passing traffic on the right shoulder.

While following behind the vehicle at about 85 mph in a 65 mph zone, the officer activated his lights but the car quickly accelerated to speeds exceeding 95 mph, according to Cpl. Marshall Clark.

A 911 dispatcher told officers that Fort Worth police had just terminated a pursuit with the vehicle. The pursuit reportedly began after police attempted to stop the suspects who were seen leaving a known dope house.

After a pursuit through Weatherford, involving Texas Highway Patrol troopers, Weatherford police officers and Parker County sheriff’s deputies, DPS was able to successfully spike the vehicle’s tires on Interstate 20, south of Mineral Wells.

The driver, identified as 32-year-old Adam Gene Campbell, of Weatherford, and a passenger, 31-year-old Sandee Lee Snyder, of Mineral Wells, were taken into custody. Campbell reportedly told police that he was evading because he felt officers would terminate the pursuit like Fort Worth and Saginaw police had done. He also said he had discarded drugs during the pursuit, according to Hudson Oaks police.

A trooper reported that the woman had thrown narcotics from the vehicle as the pursuit ended, and officers reportedly found a crack pipe in the area.

An ID card, not belonging to either person, as well as a small amount of marijuana, was reportedly found in the vehicle, as well.
