Mineral Wells Index

Raffle tickets are now available from members of the Friends of the Library and at Boyce Ditto Public Library for chances to win a new Apple iPad mini.
Tickets are $1 each from the FOL members and available in blocks of five at the library (exact change is required).
The drawing for the iPad mini will take place Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the library’s meeting room. The winner does not need to be present and will be notified after the drawing.
The iPad mini is the latest tablet on sale by Apple. This one is black, has 16GB of memory, and the ability to use either Wi-Fi or a cellular data plan connection. The data plan is not included in the raffle.
It’s an iPad 2 but in a miniature size, thin and light with the same screen resolution (1024-by-768, 163 pixels per inch) as an iPad 2 on a 7.9-inch screen (overall size is 7.87 high, 5.3 inches wide and 7.5 mm thin) and weighs less than 1 pound. In comparison to the regular-size iPad (9.7-inch screen), the mini is 23 percent thinner and 53 percent lighter. The winner will enjoy the 5-megapixel iSight camera, 10 hours of battery life, and the new Lightning connector found on the iPhone 5.
The colors are vivid and the text sharp. All of the more than 275,000 apps for the iPad also work with the mini. The Wi-Fi and cellular capabilities will allow the winner to download info from the web and stream video. And since this mini is the Wi-Fi + Cellular model, it will keep its connection to the Internet using its cellular data connection when Wi-Fi is not available, such as when riding in a car and looking for directions to where you’re going. All of this makes it a wonderful gift for yourself or a special someone!
Benefits from the raffle will go towards special projects and events at the library, located at 2300 S.E. Martin Luther King Jr. St. For more information call (940) 328-7880.
