On Friday night, the Lady Rams fell 10-1 at Graham. But Saturday at Mineral Wells, the Lady Rams scored five runs in the fifth inning to seal game two and square up the series, forcing a late-afternoon deciding game.
In the deciding game three, MWHS jumped on Graham with a four-run first inning and led 6-2 after three innings.
Although the Lady Rams produced 15 runs on the day, it was a defensive play that saved the game and ultimately the series.
Graham's Tanisha Reeve smashed a ball that hit the right-center field fence and was inches from going over to tie the game, but the ball was hit so hard that Reeve only made it to first base.
The next batter, Lyndsey Cottongame, lined a shot up the middle that appeared to be a sure base hit. But seemingly out of nowhere MWHS all-state shortstop Bethany Allen stretched to catch the ball in the air and immediately fired to first base to double up Riley Zimmer, who was running for Reeve.
The next batter grounded out to first base to end the game as the Lady Rams advance to the second round.
