Local man arrested near Baker for burglary

Police say a local man was arrested on suspicion of breaking into an outbuilding in the 200 block of East Hubbard Street last week.

According to reports, officers spotted a suspicious person pushing a shopping cart filled with metal near the Baker Hotel.

Officers made contact and identified the man as Joshua Scott Johnson, 25, of Mineral Wells, a police spokesperson said.

After their initial investigation, officers determined Johnson pried to door to the outbuilding open before entering and removing a kitchen sink and grill among other pieces of metal, reports show.

A police source said Johnson was arrested at the scene and will face a charge of burglary of a building.
