Although some braved last Saturday’s deluge to adopt a pet at Petsense, it seems the rain didn’t help the animals much since a total of 11 dogs and cats were adopted out during National Pet Adoption weekend – down from about 60 last year.
“We had perfect weather,” local Petsense Store Manager Karon Corner said of last year’s national adoption.
“It was miserable out there Saturday,” she said, adding that rain all over the southwestern region of the U.S. affected the national event at many Petsense stores.
For the event, Petsense hosted Community Animal Rescue Effort, Palo Pinto County Humane Society, Animal Angels from Jacksboro and the Mineral Wells Animal Shelter, which brought adoptable pets.
