First annual Texas Tribute ride for fallen heroes is May 18

By Lone Star News Group

In its first ever event, the Texas Tribute to Fallen Soldiers Motorcycle Ride is coming through Parker County May 18.

The ride, which begins Saturday in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, will come through the county, stopping at the homes of four Gold Star families to pay tribute to fallen soldiers.

“[The riders] are going to be coming to our homes and presenting a little plaque acknowledging the soldier with his name, rank and picture,” Carol Savage, one of the founding members of the local chapter of Gold Star Families, said.

Gold Star families from Parker County include the Savages, who lost their son, Sgt. John J. Savage in 2008; Kaye Jordan, the mother of Austin Staggs who was killed in Afghanistan in 2010; the family of Clayton Beauchamp, killed in Afghanistan in 2012; and Carol Hartley, mother of Staff Sgt. Jeffery Hartley, who was killed in Iraq in 2008.

The idea of the ride is to honor and pay tribute to America’s fallen soldiers as well as their Gold Star families to let them know their fallen heroes will never be forgotten.

The event is free to participate in, and is open to all riders who would like to pay tribute and honor fallen soldiers from Texas.
