Keep America Beautiful Inc. is sponsoring the 15th annual America Recycles Day on Nov. 15 and is looking for organizers to host local events.
The mission of such events, according to a press release, is to share “the benefits of recycling while providing an educational platform that helps raise awareness about the value of reducing, reusing and recycling – every day – all throughout the year.”
Prospective hosts of such a local activity can visit americarecyclesday.org to register and access a variety of resources to aid in the planning and promotion of the event.
According to the press release, the promotional material “is available to any organization ranging from state and municipal governments to local ‘green teams’ or scouting troops.”
Described as “the only nationally-recognized day and community-driven awareness event dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the U.S.,”the America Recycles Day website offers several tips for individuals interested in recycling efforts.
Mineral Wells residents can take recyclable materials to the City of Mineral Wells convenience station, 401 Farm-to-Market Road 2256, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The station accepts rinsed plastic bottles with certain exceptions, tin and aluminum cans and most clean, dry paper products.
City staff recommends visiting the facility to determine exactly what items are accepted before bringing a load for recycling.
