Break on through (not quite to the other side)

By CLINT FOSTER

The Mineral Wells Police Department responded to a hit-and-run accident that did more than put a dent in a vehicle – it did some damage to the outer wall of a building.

According to police, between 5 and 6 p.m. on Saturday, witnesses at the MR. C’s gas station at the intersection of U.S. Highway 180 and Farm-to-Market Road 1821 saw a man in a 1980s model pickup truck driving too fast in the parking lot.

Police said the man took a wide turn, ran over a curb and slammed his truck into the southeast corner of the Mr. C’s building.

The unknown suspect fled the scene of the accident, leaving behind the debris of the damaged building.

Police have not made an arrest regarding this case but advised citizens that the truck was maroon in color with the paint fading and visible rust and did not have a tailgate.

The suspect will answer for the offense of duty on striking a fixture/highway landscape under $200.

Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is encouraged to call (940)-325-0000.
