Special to the Index
Do purse names like Vera Bradley, Brighton, Coach, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, Kenneth Cole, Dooney Bourke or Michael Kors hold a special place in your heart?
Or do you like the sound of owning a one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted leather purse made by Strawn resident Diana Blessing? Perhaps the thought of local law enforcement officers modeling designer handbags interests you?
With the kind and valuable assistance of the Knights of Pythias of Mineral Wells conducting the Bingo games, the Children’s Alliance Center for Palo Pinto County is hosting its “Bags, Bingo and Badges” fundraiser on April 3, and you can be a winner!
The event takes place from 6-9 p.m. at Clark Gardens Botanical Park, with admittance beginning at 5:30 p.m.
One ticket to “Bags, Bingo and Badges” includes 20 Bingo game cards for the ticket holder to play for the chance to win designer handbags, retailing from a couple hundred dollars upwards. Additional game cards will be for sale at the event for those who want to increase their odds of winning a specific bag.
There will be light hors d’oeuvres served and a cash bar.
Tickets are $30 per person, for advance tickets, or $35/person at the door and are sold through CACPPC board members. Tickets are also available for purchase from Titan Bank, Ace Hardware, Cole’s Flowers or by calling 940-445-7380. Tables that have been sponsored will be guaranteed reserved seating. All other (general admission) seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. All proceeds of the event will benefit the CACPPC.
In addition to purses, there will be door prizes and raffle opportunities for ticket holders.
The CACPPC hopes “Bags, Bingo and Badges” is such a success that it becomes the flagship annual event – much like the Hope Gala or the Salsa Barron’s Ball, for their respective charities. Proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships will help the CACPPC fulfill its mission: “Uniting collective efforts to prevent child abuse, reduce trauma of abuse, and protect children, while restoring the families of our community.”
“Bags, Bingo and Badges” coincides with April being “Child Abuse Awareness Month.” As a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization, affiliated with the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas, the new Children’s Alliance Center for Palo Pinto County exists to help restore the lives of victims of child abuse and their non-offending family members. It also brings together local law enforcement investigators, Children’s Protective Services’ investigators, prosecutors and medical professionals on the CACPPC’s multidisciplinary team. In addition to helping the victims, the team will collaboratively review cases, conduct forensic interviews and work together to build cases against alleged perpetrators.
While sponsorships to the event are available until March 20 – unless sold out before – the CACPPC would like to thank the following local event sponsors who have already committed to joining the battle against child abuse: First Financial Bank, Titan Bank, Barbara Upham and Bob Dempsey, Community National Bank, Jonell Inc., Farm Bureau Insurance, Ace Hardware, Jack Powell Auto Group, NSC Properties, Clark Gardens, Sheree Patterson & Kim Kinniard, Mr C’s and Cole’s Flowers. Sponsorships range from $300 to $2500. For sponsorship information, please contact Joy Eaton at 817-991-9574.
As CACPPC President Mike Burns told Palo Pinto County Commissioner’s Court earlier this month, “Bags, Bingo and Badges” is not just for women, but is also a chance for men to come home heroes by bringing their significant other a very nice bag.
Come join the fun and snag a new bag.
