— The Brazos Valley Hog Prospect Show, which takes place Nov. 2, gives local youth an idea of where they need to be with their animals at the major shows, according to Mineral Wells Young Farmers board member Stephanie White.
The show features two formats, with Dustin Lambert judging Show A – a buckle show – and Blake Edwards judging Show B – a cash-prize show. White said youth must compete in Show A to compete in Show B.
She said the show is open to any youth, even those from other counties and noted that kids can compete in showmanship, as well.
The show takes place at the Palo Pinto County Livestock Association Expo Building, located at 1300 North Farm-to-Market Road 1821, in Mineral Wells.
Doors open Friday, 6-9 p.m., and Saturday, at 6 a.m. There is a $20 entry fee per hog per show and a $5 entry for showmanship. Weight cards are due at 9 a.m. Saturday for both shows.
Show A begins at 10 a.m. and Show B will begin after the completion of Show A.
