All proceeds from a fundraising dinner planned for next week will go toward a local nurse's ongoing medical expenses.
According to benefit organizer Cindy Beck, Tammy Foster was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer last year and has already incurred extensive hospital bills related to her treatment.
Beck, also a nurse at PPGH, said she has worked closely with Foster and wants to do what she can to help during this difficult period.
"We're friends and coworkers," Beck said, adding Foster "cared for a lot of people out here and now is a patient."
The benefit event is set to begin at 6 p.m., Feb. 2 at VFW Post 2399, 1400 Veterans of Foreign Wars St.
In addition to dinner, $10 tickets also include a live concert by the Shawn Fussell Band.
"We're also doing a silent auction and a bake sale," Beck said, adding a variety of items will be available to the highest bidder, including gift certificates, gift baskets, and handmade crafts.
A DJ will entertain attendees during dinner and the live band will take the stage at 8 p.m., she noted.
Anyone interested in purchasing advance tickets may do so between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the PPGH Gift Shop, or by calling (940) 328-2200 after 4 p.m.
Tickets will also be available at the door.
