Illuminate community Christmas tree with Pythian ‘Lights of Love’

This Christmas the Mineral Wells Pythian Sisters Temple No. 14 is conducting a very special project called “Lights of Love.”

A person can “purchase” a light on the inaugural community Christmas tree, which honor someone they love, admire or cherish.
Each light’s color is significant:

• White lights represent someone special who has passed away.

• Green lights honor a loved one, mentor, couple or friend.

• Red lights honor those who serve as a fire fighter.

• Blue lights honor police officers.

• Yellow lights honor those serving or who have served in the military.

• Pink honors those fighting, survived or lost the battle against cancer.

The Lights of Love will be used to illuminate the inaugural community Christmas tree on Dec. 1. The lighting immediately follows the annual Christmas parade. The tree will be located in “The Commons,” directly behind the former Hill’s Department Store and between City Hall and Poston Square.

Carolers will be on hand at the lighting event and hot chocolate will be available to warm up visitors. The tree lighting is open to the public and everyone is invited to join in the carols and the festivities.

This is the perfect way to make someone who you cherish feel special and loved this Christmas. For the person who has everything, this will make an excellent gift. Plus, you can honor someone who has made a big difference in your life.

During the lighting event, the Pythian Sisters will unveil an honor wall with the list of purchasers (unless they chose to remain anonymous) and honorees, including what color light was purchased. This wall will be on display near the tree throughout the holiday season.

Lights are $10 each and supply is limited so early purchase is recommended. Lights are on sale until Friday, Nov. 30, and available from any Pythian Sister or by calling (940) 682-5239.
