  • ARM gains another arm to battle addiction and facilitate recovery

    To further the ministry's reach, Addiction Recovery Ministries officially opened its third location on Feb. 23 at Possum Kingdom Lake. The other two locations are at 112 South Oak Avenue, Mineral Wells, Texas 76067, which is “home office,” and at Lone Camp.

    It doesn't take a scientist to interpret the meaning of current local water levels. With Possum Kingdom Lake at 64.3 percent capacity and Lake Palo Pinto at a striking 26.2 percent capacity, according to Water Data for Texas, Palo Pinto County has been in a drought for some time.

  • Sales tax revenue up

    AUSTIN – The office of the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts has announced that it will distribute $553 million in sales tax revenue to local governments across the state for the month of March – a figure up 4.1 percent when compared to March of 2013.

     

    Of that $553 million, Palo Pinto County and its incorporated cities are set to receive a total net payment of $395,094.48. The county and each city in the immediate area, except Graford, have all seen a positive percentage change when compared to last March's payment as well as 2014 payments to date compared to last year.

  • National Vietnam War Museum fundraiser Saturday March 29

     

     

    Mineral Wells has long and deep ties with the military, at one time during the Vietnam War serving as the US Army’s Primary Helicopter Training Facility. Thousands of chopper pilots came through Fort Wolters preparing for war.

     

    On Saturday, March 29,  The National Vietnam War Museum’s Friends of the Museum will host the 13th annual spring fundraiser at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse in Weatherford.
